TELL ME ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANTS:

Over the last 15 years, there have been significant advancements in Dentistry today. Implants have become an accessible high quality solution for permanent tooth replacement. Whether it is to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or even a full implant denture, we can do it. Over the years not only has it become more affordable, but they can even be done as an immediate replacement. This means that we can remove a tooth and immediately insert an implant. While the time from implant insertion to the capping of the implant with the replacement tooth may take several months, it is certainly the superior choice.
There are instances in which an implant is not suitable. In order to be suitable for an implant there needs to be both good bone levels and enough space for the implant. Your dentist will be able to determine this through a simple non-invasive assessment and a couple of xrays. There are also some medical conditions where an implant would not be recommended and your dentist can help with determining this. Longevity of any dental treatment cannot be predicted although the success rate of implants is incredibly high.
If you are suitable for an implant, the process is really quite simple. The first step will be to take some impressions of the implant site and to have your unique implant components manufactured. You will then be booked in for an hour long appointment during which your implant is inserted and a cap placed on top for healthy healing. This will stay in place for several months during which your dentist will monitor the progress of your healing.
When the time is right, you will be booked in for a set of impressions to be taken to manufacture your implant crown. This is the false tooth that is cemented to the implant. Once the replacement tooth is ready, you will have a short 30 minute appointment to have it fitted. And voila! You have a new, false tooth that is almost undetectable to the naked eye. Best of all, it costs approximately the same as a bridge. Interest-free payment plans are available for all treatments that we offer. Call us to arrange a free initial consultation to discuss your options.

Visit 1:

Your first visit will be a consultation. During this appointment the dentist will assess the suitability of your case for an implant. The dentist will also discuss the potential risks, outcomes and even discuss other options that may also be suitable. A couple of radiographs will be required to further assess the bone health and for the measurements to be calculated.
The dentist will provide you with some reading material and also discuss your treatment plan if deemed that you are suitable for an implant.

Visit 2:

During this visit, the dentist will remove the tooth and any fragments to prepare the site for healing prior to the implant appointment. The fee for this visit ranges from $133 and depends on the complexity of the removal.

Visit 3:

This is the visit during which the implant will be placed. The visit will take about an hour to conclude. With the use of local anaesthetic and high quality technology, the procedure is  quick and virtually painless. Your doctor will usually take 2-3 radiographs of the implant site through the appointment so you will get to see their handiwork!

Visit 4-6:

Over the next several months, you will be required to visit for your post operation review appointments. You will not be charged for these visits. Your dentist will advise you of when the site is ready for the crown appointment.

Visit 7:

This visit requires several impressions to be taken and additional components will be ordered. A colour will be chosen for the crown based on its adjacent teeth. Once the Doctor is happy with the impressions, he/she will send it off for the crown to be created.

Visit 8:

Ahh, the final stage. During this visit, the dentist will place the crown on the implant. This process involves permanently fixing the crown to the implant site. In some cases, the crown may need to be adjusted, moving the cementation date by approximately 2 weeks. One the shoe fits, or crown fits should I say, your dentist will obtain your authority to proceed with the cementation.
